Devon sent the following to Steve Good:
In Long Beach, CA our schools are closed for a month. Being housebound has caused a burst of new creativity in me. Not to burden you but this may give you an idea.
How about a sheet of silhouettes that scrollers can cut out with a hole for a string and set out on a table by the sidewalk to take, color or paint and tie to a tree by their house and sidewalk to bring kid-joy to the neighborhood. I had heard that kids in Spain were hanging their artwork in their windows facing the street. That gave me the idea.I have an elementary teacher-neighbor who is home with her two kids who is sending me silhouettes she thinks her two kids would like.
I am also going to cut out a plywood doll (like a paper doll) that my neighbor kids can make paper or cloth clothes to dress her or him up. I happen to have a box of colorful fabric scraps. I also sew.
We scrollers can help these families that are trying to make lemonade out of lemons—the sudden school shutdowns.
I am sharing this idea with the most creative members of our scroll saw club to see what they come up with.
